SUBANG JAYA, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will examine and conduct an investigation if there is any element of corruption or irregularities regarding the Aerotrain project at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) which is facing frequent service disruptions.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, however, confirmed that so far his office has not received any complaints or information related to the project.
"If there is a report, we need to look into the nature of the offence. Don't put all the offences on the shoulders of the MACC because some may involve governance issues.
"If there is (an offence) under our jurisdiction, of course we will investigate," he told reporters after the 21st Principals Meeting of the ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) here, today.
Yesterday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke directed the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to open an investigation paper against Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) following the latest disruption to the Aerotrain service at KLIA.
Since resuming operations in July 2025, the service has experienced several disruptions, including an incident involving a power outage on Oct 15.
Earlier this month, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah informed the Dewan Rakyat that 19 incidents of service disruptions were recorded between July 2 and Sept 30.
