MARA, MyPAC Sponsor Bumiputera Students In Accounting Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Five Bumiputera students have been chosen to receive full scholarships under the MARA Education Sponsorship Hybrid(MESH)–Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre (MyPAC) programme this year, while 30 students who received offer letters this year are expected to be sponsored next year.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said priority was given to students who took the accounting subject, particularly MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) students interested in accounting.

“Student selection is important as we have the cream of the cream through MRSM. Although MRSM  focuses on Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM), we also have a stream offering accounting to interested students.

“For other school and boarding school students, they can apply through MARA professional programmes offered at MARA professional colleges, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Universiti Poly-Tech MARA (UPTM),” he said after handing offer letters to MESH-MyPAC programme students here today.

Students will receive full scholarships, including course fees, living allowance, examination fees and career placement with renowned accounting firms.

Asyraf Wajdi said the programme was MARA’s commitment to focus on high impact fields such as accounting that demands integrity, analytical detail and global mobility, values possessed by Bumiputera youth.

He had earlier officiated the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and MyPAC to boost talent development in the national professional accounting field.

The MoU between MARA and ACCA is the second extension and would be continued for three years as part of MARA’s commitment to boosting Bumiputera professional talent.

Since MARA and ACCA formed a partnership in 2021, 1,420 ACCA graduates were created with 263 active students sponsored both locally and abroad.
