PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has confirmed that the passport of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law, Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, has been revoked.
Saifuddin Nasution said the revocation followed an application submitted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to cancel the passport of the wanted individual.
“I was informed by the Immigration Department that MACC had applied for the cancellation of the individual’s passport, and the action has been carried out. That I can confirm,” he told a press conference after the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly here today.
He said the police and Immigration Department would assist in efforts to bring back Muhammad Adlan, who is believed to be abroad, to facilitate MACC’s investigation.
“The individual is indeed wanted for MACC’s investigation. So, our priority is to see how the two agencies under the Home Ministry, the Immigration Department and the police, can facilitate his return,” he said.
Saifuddin Nasution said the ministry would also look into how Muhammad Adlan was able to travel abroad despite his passport having been revoked.
He said this when asked to comment on media reports claiming that Muhammad Adlan was in a Middle Eastern country.
Muhammad Adlan reportedly left Malaysia for New Zealand on May 17, 2023, shortly after his father-in-law, the former prime minister, was charged with several corruption offences.
