Selangor Menteri Besar Extends Condolences To Family Of Schoolgirl Fatally Stabbed

SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has expressed his condolences to the family of the Form Four female student who was stabbed to death in an incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, near here this morning.

He said as a father who also has a daughter, he could not imagine the situation the victim's parents are going through in facing the shocking incident.

"I offer my condolences to them. May they be given strength and protection in facing this horrific tragedy," he said in a statement here today.

Regarding the incident, Amirudin said he had contacted Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar who confirmed that the police were investigating the criminal case, and was informed that the case did not involve racial elements.

He said that at the investigation stage, the police would continue to investigate the criminal elements of the case and inform the public of its progress.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government would work with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the local community so that the level of security in all schools throughout Selangor would be improved immediately.

He said the matter would be a priority in the State Executive Council meeting, and several measures including security efforts and student mental health support would be decided immediately to ensure the safety of all students in schools.

"Schools should be the safest place for our children," he said.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail confirmed that a Form Four female student was stabbed to death by a 14-year-old male student in an incident at 9.30 am this morning in the school premises.

He said the victim died at the scene while the suspect, who is a student at the same school, was successfully arrested, with the motive for the incident still under investigation.
