KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Deputy chairmen and secretaries of zones under the Federal Territories Residents' Representative Council (MPPWP) will now receive a fixed monthly allowance of RM1,000 and RM750, respectively.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim approved the matter after it was brought to his attention.
"To support the implementation of MPPWP activities, the government has also agreed to increase the annual activity grant allocation for the zone level from RM50,000 to RM60,000, while for sub-zones, we have agreed to raise it from RM20,000 to RM25,000 per year," she said, speaking at the MPPWP appointment letter presentation ceremony for the 2025-2028 session here tonight.
Also present was Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who is also Lembah Pantai MP. A total of 1,284 individuals were appointed as MPPWP members representing Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan for this term.
Dr Zaliha said the allowance announcement reflected the government's recognition of MPPWP's significant role in mobilising communities.
"However, this comes with great responsibility. I urge that every expenditure be recorded carefully, and more importantly, the implementation of MPPWP programmes must truly benefit the people," she said.
