NGOs Play Crucial Role In Supporting Policies, Fostering Philanthropy - Dr Zaliha

27/09/2025 11:48 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) play a vital role in complementing government policies, including initiatives that may later be adopted as national policies.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said NGOs also help foster a culture of philanthropy in society, thereby strengthening humanitarian values.

“Such is the significance of NGOs in this country. They serve as a bridge between national aspirations and the realities of the people on the ground,” she said in a Facebook post today.

She said cultivating a culture of philanthropy would instil compassion in society, in line with the Malaysia MADANI concept, which emphasises balanced material and spiritual development.

“I am confident that as the culture of philanthropy continues to flourish, Malaysia will progress not only as a prosperous nation economically but also as one enriched with humanitarian values.

“Material and spiritual progress must go hand in hand in shaping a civilised nation,” she said.

Last night, Dr Zaliha officiated at the Pre-Launch of the Malaysia NGO Premier Awards and the launch of the Malaysia MADANI Mega Briswalk, held concurrently.
