KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- All public transport services, including those operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, will continue to operate as usual tomorrow, despite a planned rally by the opposition in the capital.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said it is crucial to maintain the smooth operation of the city’s public transport network so that the majority of the public can go about their weekend plans without disruption.
He also encouraged those wishing to participate in the rally to use public transport to minimise traffic congestion.
“For those heading into the capital, don’t forget that the MY50 Pass can now be renewed online via the Touch ‘n Go app. Although the pass is worth RM150, users only pay RM50, with the government subsidising the remaining RM100,” Loke posted on Facebook today.
“For first-time visitors to Kuala Lumpur, they can enjoy unlimited daily rides on the LRT (Light Rail Transit), MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), Monorail, and RapidBus using the MyCity Pass, which costs only RM6. This pass will also be digitised by the end of the year,” he added.
On the rally scheduled for tomorrow, Loke reaffirmed that the MADANI Government upholds the right to peaceful assembly even for those with differing views.
“We must not return to an era where democracy was suppressed, to the extent of shutting down Parliament,” he added.
