Toy Story Takes Over Tokyo Skytree In 30th Anniversary Sky-High Celebration

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- Tobu Tower Skytree Co Ltd, operator of Japan’s iconic Tokyo Skytree, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Toy Story" with a special event titled “To the Sky Beyond Imagination TOY STORY SKY IN TOKYO SKYTREE”.

The commemorative event, which began on July 17 and runs until Oct 31, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Toy Story through themed exhibitions, decor, merchandise, and exclusive experiences throughout the observation decks, according to a statement.

Located at a height of 450 metres, the Tembo Galleria has been transformed with Toy Story-inspired decorations and displays, offering fans a chance to interact with scenes and characters from the film.

Visitors can also purchase limited-edition Toy Story goods available exclusively at the venue, along with themed items from the event’s special cafe menu.

Meanwhile, at the 350-metre-high Tembo Deck, Tokyo Skytree’s signature Skytree Round Theater will screen exclusive Toy Story videos every evening, using the tower’s windows as a giant projection surface.

Adding to the spectacle, the exterior of the tower will be illuminated with special lighting inspired by characters from the Toy Story franchise, creating a vivid skyline display during the event period.

The event’s promotional visual features movie characters reimagined as if visiting Tokyo Skytree, transformed into a whimsical playroom in the sky.

Tobu Tower Skytree expressed hope that international tourists visiting Japan during this period would take part in this sky-high tribute to a modern classic — at the world’s tallest free-standing broadcasting tower.

At night, the tower features signature lighting styles—“Iki” in pale blue, “Miyabi” in Edo purple, and “Nobori” in tangerine—alongside custom lighting for seasonal and special events.
