KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Dr Abdul Basir V Kunhimohamed has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) effective July 1.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who is also the YWP chairman, said the appointment is for a two-year term.
She said Abdul Basir, during his tenure as the YWP Executive Committee chairman from 2024 to June 2025, had been instrumental in reorganising the foundation’s strategic priorities in welfare, education and community development in the Federal Territories.
“His involvement with international organisations under the United Nations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), demonstrates his ability to build cross-border cooperation networks.
“I believe that with his combined expertise and experience, Abdul Basir is capable of leading YWP more dynamically to further strengthen the welfare and well-being agenda for the people of the Federal Territories, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations,” she said in a statement today.
With a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Finance, Abdul Basir brings extensive experience in investment, risk management and corporate strategy.
Apart from his active involvement in academia and scholarly publications, he also serves in various organisations across the fields of religion, law and community development.
