08/07/2025 12:23 AM

JERLUN, July 7 (Bernama) -- The remains of the six family members who tragically died after their car veered into Sungai Korok in Jitra were laid to rest in a single grave at the Al Taqwa Mosque Muslim Cemetery here at 11:50 pm tonight.

Earlier, the bodies of the six family members were transported to the mosque by several hearses from Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) Alor Setar, following the completion of post-mortem examinations late this evening.

The remains arrived at the mosque around 10 pm, and the funeral prayers were attended by approximately 500 congregants, including family members, relatives, and local residents.

A somber atmosphere enveloped the family, especially Putri Qisya Nur Izzat, 12, the eldest child of the couple, who survived as she was not with her family on the day of the incident that claimed the lives of all her loved ones.

Last Saturday, Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32, Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31, and their children Putra Rayyan Nur Izzat, 9, Hawa Adriana Nur Izzat, 8, Annayla Humaira Nur Izzat, 7, and Tuah Haydar, 6 months, were initially reported missing after leaving a relative's home in Taman Seri Aman, Jitra, at approximately 5:30 am.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of the family of six was finally solved when relatives confirmed that all the bodies found inside a car submerged in Sungai Korok, Kampung Kemboja, Jitra, early Monday morning, belonged to the family.

Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim was reported as saying that based on preliminary investigations at the scene, police believe the car carrying the family of six veered directly into the river.

He added that an examination of the accident site also found no evidence of other vehicles being involved, as there were no signs of collision or brake marks.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Azim Izat's sister, Nor Syafiqah Ishak, 28, expressed her family's gratitude and thanks to all parties involved in the search operation for her brother's family until all the bodies were found.

"Thank you to all the authorities, police, and fire department, as well as all members of the public who collectively provided information until all the bodies were successfully located.

"Please pray for our family to be strong and for all our affairs to be eased hereafter," she said.
