KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Westports) and Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (CSSB) organised a Dengue Prevention Gotong-Royong Programme in the Indah Point area in Pulau Indah, Selangor, following an increase in dengue cases.
CSSB, in a statement today, said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, the primary cause of dengue outbreaks.
The programme, which began at 8 am, was officiated by CSSB’s head of finance and investment, Amran Abdul Wahab, and attended by Westports security department manager Rosman Mohd Yunus. It covered areas around Jalan Perigi Nenas 8/4, 8/5, and 8/6, located near industrial zones and foreign workers’ hostels.
In his speech, Amran said that the dengue problem is not only a health issue but also a social challenge that requires collective action.
“The presence of community members and various agencies today demonstrates our shared concern and commitment to safeguard the well-being of Pulau Indah,” he said.
CSSB added that the gotong-royong initiative is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort aimed at creating a positive impact on the Pulau Indah community.
“CSSB is dedicated to continuing strategic collaborations with various parties in leading the development of a healthy and safe community. In addition to the cleanup activity, other programmes such as ‘sukaneka’ were also held to further enliven the event,” the statement added.
The programme, which involved staff from CSSB, Westports, government agencies, partner organisations, and residents, was also attended by Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) councillor Mohd Fauzi Othman, MBDK health director Azmi Muji, and Klang district health vector-borne disease control unit head, Dr. P. Ravinikant.
