SEREMBAN, June 30 (Bernama) -- Around 30 container units used as a workers’ dormitory at a construction site in Taman Forest Heights here were destroyed in a fire this evening.
Operations commander, Senior Fire Superintendent II Mohd Nafi Wahid, said that they received a report about the incident at 6.07 pm.
“The containers, covering a total area of 300 x 600 square feet, were about 80 per cent destroyed. However, no casualties were reported as the area was empty at the time of the incident since the construction workers had not yet returned from work.
“According to the developer, the dormitory accommodated around 40 workers. The total losses and the cause of the incident are still under investigation,” he told Bernama tonight.
He said the firefighting operation, which involved 18 personnel, concluded at 9.16 pm.
