KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- Guiyang, known as the “City of Forests”, is demonstrating strong progress in its commitment to eco-civilisation through significant achievements in environmental treatment, green industry transformation and public participation in sustainability efforts.
According to the Guizhou Environmental Protection Industry Association in a statement, the city recorded a 99.5 per cent excellent rate for ambient air quality in 2024, ranking fourth among 168 key cities in China.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Guiyang Eco-Environment Bureau said the city will continue to implement its eco-city strategy and contribute the “Guiyang Experience” to China’s broader eco-civilisation efforts.

In Yunyan District’s Chayuan Village, drainage infrastructure upgrades have separated rainwater from sewage using a combination of lower drainage pipes and upper drainage ditches, significantly improving local living conditions.
The city has also invested in public eco-culture education. Guanshanhu District is home to Guizhou Province’s first county-level eco-civilisation exhibition hall, which was recognised in 2023 as a national green and low-carbon case base.
It also serves as a key demonstration site for the Guiyang International Forum on eco-civilisation. Community activities such as eco-education courses and art competitions have been held as part of an “Ecological Season Campaign”.
