PUTATAN, June 18 (Bernama) --Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged all parties to respect the legal process in the ongoing corruption case involving mineral mining licences, which reportedly implicates some state assemblymen.
He said the state government remains committed to ensuring a smooth and transparent investigation, and will continue to support the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in handling the case.
“We are committed to upholding the rule of law and promoting integrity within the government and public service,” he told reporters after visiting fire victims at Dewan Seri Putatan here today.
Earlier today, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said two Sabah assemblymen and another individual are expected to be charged in court this month in connection with the case.
Hajiji stressed that the matter would not affect the state government’s administration.
“Let the courts decide whether they are guilty or not. They also have the right to defend themselves and clear their names,” he added.
