KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- The ASEAN Fabrics Symposium 2025 will take place on July 9 and 10 at Auditorium Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), here, highlighting the powerful journey of ASEAN textiles from cultural heritage to sustainable innovation.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the event aims to bring together artisans, researchers, designers and cultural practitioners from across the region to explore how traditional textile practices can evolve and contribute to a more sustainable future.
“We are proud to invite you to the ASEAN Fabrics Symposium 2025, organised by the Ministry of National Unity through the Department of Museums Malaysia.
“This year’s symposium carries the inspiring theme, “Textile Sustainability: Tradition Towards Transformation,” he said in in a Facebook post today.
He said the symposium would provide a platform for participants to engage in meaningful dialogue on how to preserve traditional practices while embracing eco-conscious transformation.
Participation is completely free and open to the public but limited to only 200 participants.
The event is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote regional cultural understanding and sustainable development through heritage-based initiatives.
