Pantai Penyabong: Luring Visitors With Peaceful Atmosphere And Breathtaking Views

06/06/2025 05:23 PM

MERSING, June 6 (Bernama) -- Pantai Penyabong, located about 35 kilometres from the town of Mersing, is becoming a popular destination among visitors seeking a peaceful recreational spot with breathtaking coastal views.

A Bernama check found that the beach, equipped with utilities such as public restrooms, food courts, parking areas, and playgrounds, was bustling with visitors, bringing benefits to the tourism industry.

Fried seafood vendor whose stall is located not far from the beach, Adnan Muda, 64, said sales during the school holiday season have tripled.

Adnan, who runs the business with his wife, Zakiah Salim, 53, said they sell seafood, banana fritters, nasi lemak, keropok lekor, otak-otak, and satar

“Both local and out-of-town customers greatly enjoy the evening atmosphere, set against the stunning sea view and the gentle sea breeze, as they savour the batter-fried dishes.

“The beautiful panorama of nearby Pantai Pasir Lanun said to be comparable to those found overseas, also draws visitors, including motorcycle convoys, which indirectly brings a steady flow of income for our family,” he said.

Raja Bidah Raja Sulaiman, 63, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, who came to visit her grandchildren, said she was mesmerised by the views and natural beauty of the beach and its surrounding areas, including Pantai Pasir Lanun.

“… the scenery here is magnificent, and my grandchildren are having a great time, too, because there’s a playground,” she said.

Raja Bidah expressed hope that the relevant authorities would upgrade the facilities to attract more tourists to the area.

Shahrul Ali, 34, from Endau, said he frequents the waters of Penyabong—well known for its natural beauty and rich marine life—with his friends for fishing activities.

“Usually, our catch includes fish like grouper, snapper, mackerel, and scads, as well as prawns, squid, and crabs, depending on the season.

“Besides putting food on the table for the family, fishing also brings a sense of calm and helps clear the mind, especially with such a peaceful atmosphere... you could say it’s one of the go-to spots for fishing enthusiasts,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Rosli Yusof, 58, who manages a resort in the area, said the resort is usually fully booked on weekends, school holidays, and public holidays.

“We receive many tourists from other districts and neighbouring states such as Pahang and Negeri Sembilan. Some of them stay overnight to rest before heading out early in the morning for fishing while their wives and children relax here,” he told Bernama.
