SEPANG, May 25 (Bernama) -- Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived here this evening to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, which are set to begin tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The special aircraft carrying Paetongtarn and the Thai delegation landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 9.45 pm.
They were received at the Bunga Raya Complex by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
The Thai Prime Minister later inspected a guard of honour mounted by 28 officers and personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial).
The 46th ASEAN Summit, being held under Malaysia’s ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship theme ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’, brings together leaders from member states to address pressing regional challenges and strengthen ASEAN cooperation.
The summit, scheduled for May 26 and 27, will be held alongside two major high-level meetings - the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit - underscoring the regional grouping’s commitment to deepening inter-regional partnerships and tackling global issues.
Thailand, a founding member of ASEAN, has consistently prioritised economic integration, enhanced connectivity, and regional stability within the organisation’s agenda.
