KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) clinched second place in the Television Broadcast and Online Video category (News and Special Reports) at the 2024/2025 Agrobank Media Awards, here tonight.
Bernama journalist Mohd Noor Iqram Rosli earned the accolade for his compelling news piece titled Program Hijrah Asnaf Agrobank Bantu Dua Sahabat Jana Pendapatan Tingkat Kemahiran Golongan B40 (Agrobank’s Programme Helps Two Friends Earn a Living, Improves B40 Skills).
The award came with a trophy, a certificate, and a RM3,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, Bernama Radio producer Wan Shairil Azmir Wan Sharifuddin secured third place in the Radio Media Award category for his programme Padi Wangi Baharu (New Fragrant Rice), taking home RM1,000 and a trophy.
The awards were presented by Agriculture and Food Security Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak and Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin.
Bernama deputy-editor-in-chief (News Service) Nasriah Darus was in attendance.
Expressing his gratitude, Mohd Noor Iqram said he was humbled by the recognition of his work.
“Alhamdulillah, I’m truly grateful. This is my second year participating in the Agrobank Media Awards, and I’m honoured to once again be among the winners,” he said.
Wan Shairil Azmir, on the other hand, described his win as an unexpected but welcome surprise.
“I really didn’t expect this. I wasn’t even shortlisted last year. I’m so grateful. This victory was made possible by the unwavering support and collaboration from my team, who played a key role in the success of our radio programme,” he said.
A total of 16 media practitioners from across the country were honoured at the event, which recognises the dedication and contributions of journalists in reporting on Malaysia’s agriculture and food security sectors.
Meanwhile, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said that the awards reflect the bank’s deep appreciation for the vital role the media plays in shaping a positive narrative around the agriculture sector.
“As a Development Financial Institution (DFI), Agrobank deeply values the media’s support, integrity in reporting, and their role as a bridge between the industry and the public,” he noted.
The evening also marked the launch of the Agro Biz Awards 2025, a prestigious new initiative aimed at recognising excellence and contributions by agro-industry players in strengthening the nation’s food security agenda.
