The soldier successfully followed guide markers along the designated pilot route near the search area.

Muhammad Syafiq's family has been informed and will soon be flown to Sarawak at TDM’s expense.

Private Muhammad Syafiq was assigned to escort the marking and measurement of the Malaysia-Brunei Darussalam border from Ulu Tutong to Bebuloh, Limbang, between June 11 and Sept 2, 2024, under the supervision of Headquarters 31 Border Brigade.

“The Malaysian Army extends heartfelt thanks to the Sarawak government, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), and JUPEM for their cooperation and commitment until the safe recovery of the soldier,” the statement continued.

TDM also acknowledged the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) for their invaluable assistance and support during the SAR operation.
