MAKKAH, May 16 (Bernama) -- Following the success of the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) Treatment Centre in Madinah in obtaining permit approval as a treatment centre for overseas pilgrims, TH is now trying to ensure that the treatment centre in Makkah also receives a similar recognition.
Malaysian Hajj Delegation head Datuk Seri Syed Salleh Syed Abdul Rahman said thus far, TH is actively making preparations in that direction, and an application has been submitted to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health.
“Currently, the TH Treatment Centre in Makkah has been allowed to operate temporarily, before obtaining a full permit. We expect to obtain it (a full permit) soon.
“The review process is strict and thorough, which is currently being carried out by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, so it will take some time to get the full permit,” he said in a press conference with media personnel at the TH headquarters here, today.
He said that previously, the TH Treatment Centre in Madinah had been recognised as the first treatment centre for foreign pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to be approved for operating permits for three consecutive years.
He said permit approval was given after the treatment centre went through a strict and rigorous inspection by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, including the selection of the place of operation, as well as whether the entry and exit route was suitable or not.
“Also evaluated is the equipment, whether or not it is sufficient to provide treatment to patients in the initial treatment stage, as well as the work procedures and whether they reach the required level of medical practice, in addition to the approval and expertise of each medical officer on duty, suitable or not to operate the treatment centre,” he said.
At the same time, the ratio of doctors and specialist doctors is also taken into account, along with work procedures in terms of disposal of clinical waste and medicines provided, before the permit was successfully obtained for the third time.
The success, he said, was a recognition of the staff of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and TH, who have shown commitment and a high level of professionalism in providing health services to the pilgrims, in addition to recognising the quality and standard of facilities and equipment provided by the MoH.
