Th Uses Content Delivery Network To Ensure Faster Access To Information During Hajj Season

MAKKAH, May 13 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) through its Hajj Technology and Information Division has, for the first time, implemented a Content Delivery Network (CDN) in an effort to ensure faster access to information for the convenience of Hajj pilgrims and TH personnel.

The director of the division, Ashraf Ahmad, said that the implementation of CDN involving the use of cloud computing systems in all TH systems was one of the innovations made to strengthen TH operations in the 1445H/2024 Hajj season.

"We are using a Content Delivery Network, which is one of the cloud technologies, to expedite access to networks such as Hajj Mobility, the i-Sihat system, and the THiJARI system. Previously, access to networks in Malaysia took quite a long time, exceeding 300 to 400 milliseconds (ms).

"However, with the use of CDN, it's as if we are accessing systems in Malaysia even though we are actually accessing them from Saudi Arabia. This allows access to our data in Malaysia to become faster," he said during a media briefing with media personnel here today.

He said that there were six applications used by personnel and pilgrims, including i-Sihat, THiJari, Hajj Mobility, Stock & Inventory, and the core system that uses the CDN system.

He said another improvement was made in the accommodation system for Masyair operations, which allows each pilgrim to be placed in the same tent (based on gender) to facilitate family members in caring for those needing special care, especially the elderly.

"Accommodations in the dormitories are also arranged family-wise to keep them close together, especially for families with members of different genders, for the convenience of pilgrims," he added.

Ashraf also said that improvements had been made to the TH Health System, which could now access MySejahtera data, making it easier for doctors and nurses to provide faster treatment to pilgrims.

Previously, health personnel had to access both systems separately, which was time-consuming and slowed down the treatment process.

The TH Technology and Information Division, consisting of 20 personnel, was the first group to arrive in the Holy Land in early May to set up network facilities that allow pilgrims to access all systems provided in all 12 accommodation centres in Makkah and three in Madinah.
