Spnb's Rmr 2.0 Receives Encouraging Response Nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- The Rumah Mesra Rakyat 2.0 (RMR 2.0), introduced by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) in February this year, has received encouraging responses across the country.

SPNB chairman Datuk Husam Musa said RMR 2.0 is the choice of many as applicants do not have to wait long to own their dream home if they meet all the criteria set.

“If the applicant has the capital, or has made an agreement with his family to be willing to pay part of the cost of building a house of RM55,000, then he can get a house within 45 days, because the remaining cost of another RM20,000 will be borne by the government, in form of subsidy,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Urban Community Sustainability Programme (PKKB) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the Kerinchi People's Housing Project (PPR), here today. SPNB's acting chief executive officer Zahanuddin Kamarudin was also present.

Husam said among the states which showed high interest in the RMR 2.0 project were Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor, but focus would also be given to attracting more applicants from Sabah and Sarawak.

As for RMR 1.0, he said SPNB received almost 190,000 applications nationwide as of April this year, but could only approve a construction quota of 3,500 units for this year, to complement the quota of another 3,100 units under RMR 2.0.

Regarding the PKKB, Husam said that it was an initiative of SPNB and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), to provide awareness to the population about the importance of contributions in reducing global warming.

He said that this step was made possible through the provision of, among other things, hydroponic system greenhouses and recycling stations, in the residential area to educate the community about saving electricity and water, as well as reducing and more systematic waste management.

In addition, the hydroponic system is also efficient in providing good crop yields in a short period, thereby increasing the local community's source of income.
