Unimap Forges Collaboration With Namibian Ipt

KANGAR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International University of Management (IUM), a Namibian institution of higher learning (IPT), today.

According to a statement from UniMAP, Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli inked the MoU at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery at the Alam Campus in Arau while IUM was represented by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Osmund Damian Mwandemele in a ceremony held virtually.

Zaliman said the MoU would be a platform for both universities to share academic expertise and knowledge as well as cross-disciplinary and cultural research, thus enhancing the university's global visibility and reputation and strengthening cooperation between Malaysia and Namibia.

“IUM and UniMAP have the same intention in wanting to boost research, training and conferences at both institutions and this is an opportunity for students, lecturers, researchers and employees to carry out and improve academic and research activities together.

“This MoU will enable the implementation of various collaborations, including student mobility and publishing, innovation and incubation covering the fields of communication and information technology, social entrepreneurship, accounting and finance, human resource management, economics, marketing, business management and many more,” he said.

He added that the MoU was facilitated by the Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia in Namibia, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya.
