KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- RYTHM Foundation, the award-winning philanthropic arm of the global conglomerate QI Group, recently introduced the Maharani Learning Lab 2.0 (MLL 2.0), a space offering a nurturing environment for marginalised adolescent girls from the B40 household category.
Chairperson of RYTHM Foundation, Datin Seri Umayal Eswaran said MLL 2.0, which gives access to after-school academic support, digital programmes and empowerment sessions, also provides participants with coaching in key subjects like English, Bahasa Melayu, Science and Mathematics to excel in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
In addition, digital training encompasses programmes like Canva, Microsoft Office and coding, while personal development initiatives to enhance self-awareness, confidence, communication skills and leadership abilities.
"MLL 2.0 is just one of many initiatives the foundation is actively engaging in to combat gender inequality by providing educational opportunities, encouraging girls to pursue their ambitions, foster leadership skills and address societal disparities that disadvantage them," she said.
She told reporters after the launching ceremony of MLL 2.0 at Damansara Damai, near here, which was also attended by Head of RYTHM Foundation, Santhi Periasamy.
Meanwhile, M. Subhashini, mother of M. Keshanashre, 14, a MLL participant, expressed gratitude to the foundation and its MLL initiative, saying that she has seen many positive changes to her daughter's outlook on school and her future after attending MLL.
"She has developed new interests and learned to manage her time effectively. I hope MLL continues to engage more teenage girls to help them grow beyond the confines of school, homework and exams," she said.
Another participant of MLL, Afiqah Umairah Asbarihan, 16, said the MLL has guided her towards a profound transformation in her approach to learning and the vision for her future.
"MLL is not just a place of study but also where my overall growth is being nurtured. Through the guidance and support I received, I am empowered to break barriers and challenge stereotypes," she said.
MLL, which originally began in 2015 as a learning centre in Sungai Siput, Perak, was redirected to focus on communities near the foundation's operational headquarters in the Klang Valley.
MLL is a vital component of the foundation's flagship Maharani initiative alongside the Education Ministry-endorsed Maharani School Programme (MSP), marking a significant move towards offering crucial resources and support to young women in the country.
