Utm Royal Gala Dinner 2024 Aims To Raise Over Rm5 Mln

JOHOR BAHRU, March 3 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) aims to raise over RM5 million through the organisation of its UTM Royal Gala Dinner 2024 which is expected to be attended by 600 guests.

Its vice-chancellor, Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said table sales will follow categories and prices such as Bronze (RM20,000), Silver (RM40,000), Gold (RM60,000), Platinum (RM100,000), Premier (RM250,000) Titanium (RM500,000).

"The incentive offered is that sponsorship and purchase of tables for the gala dinner will be exempted from income tax under Subsection 44 (6) of the Income Tax Act 1967," he said in a statement today.

He said the UTM Royal Gala Dinner, organised once in two years, is an effort to raise funds to help less able UTM students, as well as to improve the university's teaching and learning facilities.

Therefore, he hopes that all parties whether individuals, companies or corporate bodies can come forward to help the university in making the event a success.

Ahmad Fauzi said funds collected will be channelled to several UTM funds including the Endowment Fund, Education Waqf Fund, UTM Alumni Endowment Fund, Because We Care Chancellor Fund, Alumni Association Endowment Fund and Faculty Endowment Fund.

He also said the UTM Royal Gala Dinner 2022, which was hosted by the Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, now Queen of Malaysia, who is also the UTM chancellor, raised over RM5 million through the sale of tables and sponsorship at Persada Johor on July 16, 2022.
