KOTA KINABALU, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat (SMJ) and the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) today became partners to implement a programme for the eradication of hardcore poverty in the state.
The SMJ Secretariat said that both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the cooperation in a ceremony at Menara Kinabalu here today.
The MoU was signed by chief coordinating officer of the Secretariat Datuk Rosmadi Datu Sulai representing the Sabah government and Perkeso Group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.
“This agreement (MoU) is a collaboration to strengthen the hardcore poverty eradication programme in Sabah. In addition to laying a foundation for long-term cooperation, the programme will provide benefits to both parties as well as to the target group.
“This collaboration will demonstrate the commitment of both parties with the overlapping of expertise and technological resources in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan,” it said in a statement today.
Among other things, the MoU will see the implementation of the Social Synergy Programme, the strategic collaboration of aid agencies, the sharing of information technology expertise, social security protection awareness programmes, job market intervention and data-sharing.
