BERNAMA'S COURTESY VISIT TO MINDEF STRENGTHENS COOPERATION, SHARING OF INFORMATION

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin today received a courtesy visit from the Bernama management, led by its Editor-in-Chief Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, to allow both sides to exchange views on information sharing.

Mohamed Khaled on his official Facebook page today said Bernama as the national news agency played a significant and critical role in delivering accurate and up-to-date information to the public.

"This is especially important regarding government policies and initiatives, including defence and military matters. I believe such good cooperation can ensure that the information received by the public is accurate and comprehensive, thereby enhancing awareness and understanding of the people on national defence issues," he said.

Meanwhile, Nur-ul Afida, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Bernama, said among the purposes of the visit was to strengthen strategic cooperation in information dissemination between the national news agency and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), as well as to introduce the new editorial management leadership line-up to the ministry.

"This cooperation will provide Bernama with opportunities to engage with the ministry and all activities related to the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), as well as enabling appropriate information related to national defence to be channelled to Bernama," she said after the courtesy visit at the Minister of Defence's Office in Wisma Pertahanan, here, today.

Also present were Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Economic News Service) Nasriah Darus and News Service Executive Editor Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa.
