Bank Islam To Provide Training Opportunities For Uum Graduates

SINTOK, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Bank Islam will provide training opportunities for graduates from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as part of its efforts to contribute to the education of the younger generation, said its chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Muazzam Mohamed.

He said through this initiative, selected individuals will gain practical experience in the professional environment and refine their skills before entering the workforce, with a specific focus on the field of Islamic banking.

“With our extensive experience and expertise in the financial sector, particularly in syariah-compliant banking, our goal is to empower and enhance the well-being of UUM students and staff.

“Bank Islam will enhance the social entrepreneurship ecosystem at UUM by expanding its capacity. This involves coordinating initiatives like financial impact summaries, entrepreneurial incubation programmes and providing industrial  training opportunities directly on the campus,” he said at the opening of Bank Islam UUM Hostel here today.

He said in the past, Bank Islam had actively contributed to the well-being of the UUM community through zakat fund contributions, specifically aimed to support financially disadvantaged students, enabling them to pursue and sustain their studies at the university. 

“We are delighted to be invited to contribute to yet another initiative that brings benefits to the UUM  community.

“The branding of the hostel (Inasis) and formalisation of this memorandum of agreement (MoA) mark a significant step in reinforcing the longstanding collaboration between Bank Islam and UUM, dating back to 2005," he said.

Mohd Muazzam said through the MoA, Bank Islam will provide a contribution of RM350,000 as an endowment fund for a duration of 10 years.

He said the fund would be utilised by UUM for the upkeep of student hostels and the implementation of various entrepreneurship and financial literacy programmes for students.
