26/12/2023 04:42 PM

KUCHING, Dec 26 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has yet to receive information from the diesel supplier regarding the interruption of supply at Petronas-owned petrol stations in the state.

KPDN said in a statement today that the ministry was awaiting an official statement from Petronas Dagangan Berhad regarding the shortage at nearly all of its petrol stations in Sabah and Sarawak.

“Consumers are also advised to get their diesel supply at Shell or Petros (state-owned oil and gas company) petrol stations,” read the statement.

KPDN assured that it would carry out constant checks and monitoring on all petrol stations and urged the public to report any activities involving the misappropriation of subsidised diesel on e-aduan.kpdn.gov.my, through the Whatsapp application at 019-2794317 @ 019-8488000 (Consumer Complaints) or by contacting the 1-800-886-800 hotline.

Yesterday, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen was reported as saying that the diesel shortage in the state has been occurring for the last two weeks, alleging that irresponsible parties are using the subsidised fuel for industrial purposes, causing the shortage.
