JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar’s birthday celebrations officially began with the Initiation Ceremony at Istana Besar here this morning.
According to a posting on His Majesty’s official Facebook page, the Initiation Ceremony kicked off with the hoisting of the State Ceremonial Flag at 9 am.
“The hoisting of the flag was preceded by a prayer recital by Mufti of Johor Datuk Yahya Ahmad and the ceremonial proclamation by Datuk Penghulu Istiadat Datuk Ismail Karim.
“During the proclamation, Datuk Ismail also said that the flag will stay hoisted throughout His Majesty’s birthday celebrations,” the posting read.
The Initiation Ceremony culminated with the firing of seven shots of cannon by the 41 Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial).
Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor Royal Court Council president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli, Johor State Cabinet members and heads of departments.
The last Initiation Ceremony held in Johor was in March 2019.
