KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) today announced that Professor Datuk Dr Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) effective Oct 2.
The former Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) director-general who started as a lecturer in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2004, was also the Vice Chancellor of USM for three years from 2017 to 2020.
“The Ministry is confident that through the appointment, he would be able to lift the status of UPM as a leading institution for research that focuses on agriculture.
“He is seen as a person with the capability to spur UPM towards a new benchmark in the ecosystem of higher education, especially so to fulfil the nation’s agenda of food security,” said KPT in the statement today.
Ahmad Farhan has a degree in Civil Engineering from The Catholic University of America, United States and a degree in Transportation Engineering from Imperial College London, United Kingdom (UK).
He also has a Phd in Transport Studies from the University College London, UK.
KPT also registered its appreciation to former Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman whose term as UPM Vice Chancellor ended on Aug 31.
