KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The international symposium on Upholding Human Dignity for Peaceful Coexistence aims to expand the understanding on the concept of human dignity and peaceful coexistence from a multidimensional perspective as foundational to the different aspects of Malaysian life.
The two-day event, organised by Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) also focuses on creating new ideas on the concept as it relates to the different aspects that can be expressed in positive actions and outcomes.
IKIM Chairman, Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Nur Manuty said the symposium covers the important topic on the need to uphold and preserve human dignity for the efforts of creating and sustaining peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding in a society.
“This symposium is well-timed as the world is currently facing challenges of dehumanisation, degradation and sufferings of human life,” he said his speech when opening the symposium at a hotel, here today.
He said the fundamental essential to progress is promoting peace and harmony through upholding human dignity towards a greater agenda of unity in multicultural societies.
