KAMPAR, June 27 (Bernama) -- Four telecommunication towers in Temenggor, Pengkalan Hulu in Gerik and Kota Tampan in Lenggong are expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of next year.
Perak Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi said the construction of the towers under phase two of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) was slightly delayed due to the problems experienced by the contractors.
He said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been informed of the poor communication networks in some rural areas, adding that the body is finding ways to address the delay which is also caused by hilly areas blocking the frequency from reaching the intended areas.
“InsyaAllah, I am optimistic that (the towers) will be completed soon and will be of great benefit to the locals," he said when met by reporters after officiating the Jualan Rahmah programme at Arena Rakyat here today.
Mohd Azlan Helmi was previously quoted as saying that the construction of 105 communication towers, under the JENDELA initiative in the state was expected to be completed this year.
Issues plaguing the project will be resolved immediately to expedite the construction, he added.
