TELUK INTAN, May 5 (Bernama) -- The construction of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris’ (UPSI) Teluk Intan campus in Jalan Changkat Jong here will continue through open tender, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming said.
He said he was given to understand that the open tender process for the project, worth around RM130 million, will be implemented this month.
“The ‘sick’ UPSI project could not be implemented by the previous government, so within these six months after the Unity Government was formed, we talked with the Higher Education Ministry.
“Today we’re very happy that our efforts have bore fruit, we have restructured it, there’s no more direct negotiation, we will make it an open tender,” he told reporters when met at the Hilir Perak district Aidilfitri Open House here today.
The Teluk Intan MP had announced the matter during his speech, and presented Aidilfitri donations to all 24 mosques in the parliamentary constituency.
The project was announced by the sixth prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, during his visit here during the Teluk Intan by-election in 2014, and was under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) which was drafted in 2011.
