KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) ‘Program Tautan Kasih’ spread some early festive cheer to 18 orphans from Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah by contributing Hari Raya clothes at Jakel Mall Kuala Lumpur, here yesterday.

SEDA Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Datuk Hamzah Hussin said the authority allocated RM20,000 for the orphans aged one to 21 years old, and they were given the opportunity to choose their own set of fancied clothing.

“I hope SEDA Malaysia’s contribution will somewhat reduce the financial burden of the Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah administrators when preparing Raya clothes for the children under their care.

“We are happy that this small contribution has helped bring joy to the less fortunate children, with the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations. I am touched to see the excitement in their faces and how their eyes brightened when picking up clothes that they liked,” he said in a statement today.

Also present at the program was JAKEL Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Mohamed Faroz Mohamed Jakel, Chairman of Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah, Hafifah Ismail and SEDA Chief Strategy Officer, Mohammad Nazri Mizayauddin.

According to Hamzah, the orphans also received a variety of goodies and duit raya.

He added that the ‘Program Tautan Kasih’ initiative was among the several series of CSR programmes planned throughout Ramadan this year, aimed at giving SEDA Malaysia the opportunity to contribute to society and share sustenance with the underprivileged.

Other SEDA Malaysia Ramadan activities lined up are the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’, breaking of fast event, tazkirah Ramadan and Tadarus Al-Quran.
