22/02/2023 04:42 PM

TAWAU, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) has appointed 2,200 amil (tithe collectors) to collect zakat fitrah (title collected during Ramadan) this year, its deputy chairman Malai Ali Malai Ahmad said.

He said the appointments were to make it easier for the Muslim community in Sabah to pay zakat fitrah.

“The appointed amil will be on duty in mosques, surau, supermarkets, shop fronts and their homes. Over 100 amil have been appointed for the Apas, Balung, Sri Tanjong and Kalabakan areas,” he told reporters here today.
