Kelab Bakti Gunung Keledang contributes over RM2 mln to help people in Perak

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Kelab Bakti Gunung Keledang (KBGK) recently presented more than RM2 million to assist the development of a tahfiz college, to carry out adoption projects involving Orang Asli villages and several other programmes that benefit the people in Perak.

According to a statement, the club says it is committed to continuing its role as a non-governmental organisation that focuses on welfare.

The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim presented the donations in conjunction with the ceremony to announce the new KBGK president for this year held at a hotel in Ipoh, Perak, recently.

Also present was Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad as well as about 500 guests.

The recipients included Kolej Tahfiz Addin Tapah, surau Al Akramin of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Pari,  Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Addin Kampung Kepayang Simpang Pulai, Yayasan Impak and Kampung Orang Asli Kampung Lalang, it said.

As the royal patron for KGBK, Sultan Nazrin also witnessed the announcement of the club’s new president for 2023, namely Sheikh Izat Azhar Syeikh Ahmad by last year’s president Mohd Fazli Omar.

The Ruler also launched the club's website created to expand KBGK's involvement in the community which is expected to open up more opportunities for organisations and individuals to contribute and help those in need.

“KBGK calls on individuals and organisations seeking donations and assistance in the form of cash and goods including learning and school development to contact the secretariat for further discussion and evaluation," read the statement.

KGBK which was founded in the late 1970s focuses on welfare, with members consisting of government officials, businessmen, politicians, and professionals.
