KULAI, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Despite her shy demeanor, a six-year-old pianist managed to compose herself and wow the audience with her own rendition of “Study in F” music piece at the Airport Music Weekend held at Senai Airport Terminal here today.
Enya Chang Shan Yann has just started playing classical music last year but has taken music lessons since she was 18 months old.
Her mother Vivien Tham said since then, her daughter has also shown interest in competing in domestic and international competitions.
“Enya is among Top 50 Musicians in London Young Musician list. She is one of the youngest participants in the competition,” she told reporters after the performance.
Tham said her daughter, who adores Chinese pianist Lang Lang, spends about 45 minutes daily playing the piano and takes lessons with piano teacher Karen Lim, twice a week.
“She wants to pick up violin lessons after this,” Tham said on her daughter’s next venture.
Enya is among 100 musicians and artists at the three-day musical rhapsody being held at the airport.
The third installation of the Airport Music Weekend which starts today, is aimed at entertaining about 40,000 visitors with various musical performances and interesting lineups from various music genres as well as bazaar from 30 local vendors and non-governmental organisations.
