KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The edutainment educational programme 'Jom Buat Tabung’ (Let's Make a Si Kijang Money Box) to give exposure to the basic knowledge of financial management to children successfully gathered a total of 560 pupils and teachers close to 50 primary schools around the Klang Valley.
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Museum and Art Gallery director Noreen Zulkepli said the programme aims to foster awareness of prudent financial management by making cardboard boxes through the art of origami.
"The programme is based on the concept of 'Save, Spend and Share' and exposes children to the basic knowledge of managing finances so that they can start at a young age and plan for a brighter future," she told reporters at a programme held in conjunction with the Children's Festival @ MAG 2022 here today.
The programme also saw a record entry in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the Most Participants in the event.
The certificate of recognition was presented by MBOR research analyst Siti Nurhanim Mohd Nohyang in the presence of MBOR record consultant Siti Hajar Johor.
Meanwhile, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Jinjang Tengah 1 pupil, Soo Khai Rou, 11, said participating in the programme was a booster in instilling the spirit of saving which she has been practising since she was seven.
"It’s more fun and I am encouraged to save more after seeing my peers also inculcate the same habit," she said.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas Kampung Baru teacher Huzaina Husin, 29, described the event as a platform for children, including those in special classes to improve their social skills and expand their social circle.
