MELAKA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Special Educational Needs (SEAMEO SEN) has launched two books in an effort to promote the best practices for inclusive learning for learners with disabilities.
The books, titled ‘Best Practices in Disability Inclusive Education’ and ‘Buku Amalan Terbaik Dalam Pendidikan Khas dan Inklusif’, were launched by Education Ministry Special Education Division director Salmah Jopri on behalf of the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof.
SEAMEO SEN, in a statement, said the ceremony was also attended by special education teachers from Melaka, Melaka Education Department officers and SEAMEO SEN staff.
"This book is a definitive effort and hardwork by 49 teachers from Melaka which successfully published 63 articles (45 articles in Malay language and 18 articles in English language).
"This book is the result of a strategic alliance between SEAMEO SEN and the Melaka Education Department as a strategic partner," it said.
It is ingrained in SEAMEO SEN's role as a regional centre for special educational needs to put forward the disability inclusive education agenda at the national level and beyond.
This book offers the best practices that can assist teachers to support learners with disabilities, which include innovation in teaching and learning, assistive technologies, behavior modification, teaching strategy and school-to-work transition.
It is hoped that this book will become a referral source for all teachers to create an inclusive learning environment for learners with disabilities.
The Best Practices in Disability Inclusive Education Book is now available only in hard copy version, with the soft copy version to be out soon. For more information about the book, please contact research@seameosen.edu.my.
