SEMPORNA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- A ferry service from mainland Semporna to Pulau Bum-Bum will be seriously considered while waiting for the proposed Pulau Bum-Bum bridge to materialise, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Hajiji said he will talk to the Public Works Department and Economic Planning Unit under the Chief Minister’s office if a ferry service can be started to cater the needs of the folks in Pulau Bum-Bum.
"The ferry services for transport and passenger would be beneficial to the people on the vast island," he said at a meet-the-people session here today.
Also present were Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Semporna parliamentary constituency Nixon Abdul Habi and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Bugaya state seat Abd Aziz Mohd Ibno.
As for the bridge proposal, Hajiji said it has been there for a long time but this time around he would take up the matter with the Federal government.
"If GRS-BN candidates win the elections here, I will personally bring the application to the Federal government," he added.
Hajiji said the GRS-BN state government will look to resolve problems and issues affecting the people here, including infrastructure issues at Kampung Simunul and Kampung Bangau-Bangau which have been affecting the people for so long.
