KANGAR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The Perlis 15th General Election (GE15) Virtual Media Centre, provided by the Perlis Information Department (JPNPs), has become a reference centre for media practitioners in the state covering GE15.
JPNPs public relations officer, Noor Aini Hanapiah, said that the centre was opened on Nov 4 to serve as a reference centre for media practitioners covering GE15 on a daily basis.
“We try to provide the latest information required by the media, including the campaign activities of candidates from all parties, the latest information from the Election Commission (EC) and any information related to GE15,” she said when contacted by Bernama today.
Noor Aini, who was given the responsibility of managing the Perlis GE15 Virtual Media Centre, said information sharing was done bilaterally, with media practitioners also sharing information about candidate campaigns in a WhatsApp group.
Meanwhile, Perlis Bernama bureau stringer Muhammad Ekmal Hakim Abdullah said the WhatsApp group helped him a lot in covering the election, from the nomination day on Nov 5.
“Information sharing through WhatsApp groups makes it easier for media practitioners to get the latest information to prepare a daily coverage schedule,” he said.
Muhammad Ekmal, a journalist for five years, said this is his second time covering a general election, starting with GE14.
