Participate in MBI's E-Waste collection campaign to win cash up to RM33,000

IPOH, Sept 29 (Bernama) — By collecting electrical and electronic waste (E-Waste), the public, especially city folks here have the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw with prizes up to RM33,000 in cash.

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said this initiative was done to make the celebration of National Environment Day 2022 at the Perak state level more successful and in line with the state government's theme and goal of achieving the 'Perak Bumi Lestari' agenda. 

"E-Waste collection activities are carried out every third Saturday and Sunday of the month from May 21 to Nov 30 in five selected locations according to the parliamentary constituencies of Ipoh Barat, Batu Gajah, Ipoh Timur, Gopeng and Tambun.

"Items such as laptops, computers, mobile phones, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and other electrical and electronic equipment can be exchanged for money, excluding used lamps and batteries," he said in a ceremony today.

He added that MBI in collaboration with Syarikat Edsha Solutions Sdn Bhd is offering a lucky draw prize worth RM10,000 to all participants and additional tokens in cash according to the price set by all participants who send in their e-waste.

"Participants also have the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw prize provided by the Department of Environment (DOE) amounting to RM 33,000 at the state level," he added.

A total of 87 metric tonnes of electrical and electronic waste have been collected as of Sept 27 and a target of 100 metric tonnes has been set by Nov 30, said Rumaizi.
