K-KOMM encourages its agencies to be close to the people

18/09/2022 08:42 PM

KOTA BHARU, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) in Kampung Pasir Badak, Ketereh, here is in line with the call of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM) for all agencies to bring their services closer to the people.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said K-KOMM's services would be more effective if the roles of each agency were better known and understood by the people.

He said for the purpose, all the agencies of the ministry are required and need to emphasise on branding and marketing their respective identities.

"The programme implemented by Bernama is an initiative to be closer to people who may have previously thought that the news agency's services only revolved around media industry players.

"All K-KOMM agencies such as Bernama, MyCreative Ventures, Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and others must approach the people by holding grassroots programmes," he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Bernama CSR Programme: Bekwoh Bersama Komuniti at Mukim Pasir Badak Mosque which was also attended by Bernama chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin, here today.

The CSR programme with the concept of bekwoh (big feast) involving 500 local residents aims to introduce and promote Bernama to the local community and media industry stakeholders about the existence of the news agency, in addition to introducing the comprehensive services provided.

Commenting further, Annuar who is also Ketereh MP said Bernama's CSR programme is also very much in line with the Keluarga Malaysia Concept which is an important agenda of the government at the moment.

"Today's programme approach is structured to ensure the K-KOMM agency is close to the people and the implementation of a programme like this adds confidence and well-being to the people because it is a reflection of the Keluarga Malaysia government," he said.

Meanwhile, Roslan said Bernama closely follows every event, programme and ceremony organised by K-KOMM and then implements side programmes aimed at introducing the news agency.

"Today we are implementing a bekwoh programme to enable Bernama and the community to be closer, we take the opportunity to tell stories or inform the people about anything related to programmes, functions, objectives so that the people understand on the whole how Bernama moves, functions and can shape and help the people," he said.

Bernama's CSR programme also involves collaboration with Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (Mydin) and MYTV as strategic partners.

Mydin contributed RM5,000 worth of vouchers which were given to local residents consisting of 50 asnaf families who were selected to receive RM100 each.

This cooperation between Bernama and Mydin is the third tour series in the framework of the six series Kasih@Bernama programme and the supermarket agreed to contribute RM30,000 in the form of daily necessities vouchers to selected asnaf/orphanage and tahfiz centres.

MYTV's involvement as a strategic partner in this programme is to support Bernama as one of the broadcasters on the MYTV platform.

To make Bernama's CSR programme a success, MYTV has donated 100 units of decoder for 100 selected homes including free installation.
