SUNGAI SIPUT, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- A total of RM23.86 million has been allocated by the Rural Development Ministry for repair works at 11 critical locations including slopes along the road from Kampung Bawong to Rancangan Penempatan Semula (RPS) Pos Legap here, according to a Perak state executive councillor.
State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun said the slope and road repair project was expected to be fully completed in March 2025, with the Perak Public Works Department as the implementing agency.
"This project is aimed at strengthening and repairing slopes and damaged roads to ensure roads affected by slope failures can be made safe and comfortable for road users, especially rural residents.
"This road is also the main route to popular tourist destinations, namely Kuala Mu and Pos Yum. So, the safety of tourists should be emphasised,” he told reporters after the ground-breaking ceremony for the project here today.
Mohd Zolkafly also said more than RM200 million had been allocated for building new roads in Kuala Kangsar and Hulu Perak districts.
"A total of RM94 million is for building a new road from Gentis in Sungai Siput to the Pos Kemar Orang Asli Settlement in Gerik while the construction of a road from Kampung Beng to Kampung Raja Intan Suraya in Kuala Kangsar will cost RM140 million,” he said.
