KANGAR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The involvement of all parties, including members of the public, is needed to make the Kota Raja-Pauh Putra Draft Special Area Plan (RKK) a success, said Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
He said the three main components of the new development corridor covered the areas of Pauh Putra, Pekan Pauh and Pekan Arau.
“The main purpose of this publicity is to exploit the uniqueness of the areas so that the development agenda moves in line with its master plan to become a city-state by 2030,” he said.
Azlan told reporters this after officiating the Kota Raja-Pauh Putra RKK Draft Publicity and Public Participation programme at Dewan Warisan here, which was organised by the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) and Kangar Municipal Council (MPK).
Also present were state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Azizan Sulaiman, Perlis State Secretary Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, PLANMalaysia deputy director-general (Planning) Md Nazri Abdullah and MPK chairman Norazlan Yahaya.
Azlan said that before the RKK is finalised, it would need to undergo the process of publicity and public participation to give all stakeholders and members of the public an opportunity to understand, make suggestions or objections in line with the requirements stipulated under the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172).
He said they would be given a period of one month from Tuesday (Aug 9) until Sept 8 to facilitate all parties to get information regarding the RKK draft report and publicity programme.
He said the permanent exhibition on the Kota Raja-Pauh Putra RKK Draft would be held at the MPK headquarters and branch offices and the PLANMalaysia@Perlis office.
Meanwhile, a mobile exhibition will be held at Masjid Arau from Aug 15-19, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Pauh Putra Campus (Aug 29-Sept 2) and Tok Arau Complex (C-Mart) from Sept 5-9.
