Keluarga Malaysia Merdeka Carnival@Padang Besar expected to draw 20,000 visitors

KANGAR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- The Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) Merdeka Carnival@Padang Besar to be held at the Uniciti Alam Campus of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) from tomorrow afternoon is expected to attract up to 20,000 visitors, said Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

He said the two-day carnival is being organised for the first time to introduce products and services under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia to the public, as well as to enliven this year’s National Day Celebration and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.

The programme is aimed at providing information and exposure related to digital connectivity, cyber security, and self-control, among others, that will benefit all levels of the Keluarga Malaysia society, he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The Padang Besar Member of Parliament also said programmes related to the creative industry will also be held to celebrate the success of the joint efforts between the people and the government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Together in Keluarga Malaysia, we have worked together to ensure this country entered into the transition to endemic phase and now the time has come for us to revive economic and social activities in Padang Besar," he said.

Zahidi said members of Keluarga Malaysia regardless of race and religion are welcomed to attend the kenduri rakyat (feast for the people) that will be held as part of the carnival to strengthen the relationship between the people and local leaders.
