Sarawak Premier to launch state-level national month, fly Jalur Gemilang event this Saturday

KUCHING, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Premier of Sarawak Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will launch the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2022 programme at Kuching Waterfront this Saturday (Aug 13).  

According to a statement from the Sarawak Information Department (JaPeN), the launching ceremony is a continuation of the national-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2022 event officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on July 30.

"Themed ‘Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama' (Keluarga Malaysia – Standing Strong Together), the main activities that have been planned are ‘Berjalan Teguh Bersama Keluarga Malaysia’ event, the flagging-off of the Malaysian Family Merdeka Adventure Convoy (KMKM2022) and the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang," read the statement.

‘Berjalan Teguh Bersama Keluarga Malaysia’ is a group walking activity in a relaxed and harmonious environment while waving the Jalur Gemilang that will be led by Abang Johari.

Abang Johari will also flag off the KMKM2022 involving Sarawak JaPen and its strategic partners, agencies under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM), and federal and state government agencies as well as members of the Malaysian Family.

The convoy is scheduled to travel about 4,025 kilometres from the south starting at the Pan Borneo Highway in Telok Melano to Lawas in the north involving 37 stops before reaching the final destination in Betong on Aug 31 in conjunction with the state-level National Day celebrations.

The public can take part in various activities during the launch including Zumba, a giant snake board game and quizzes, among others, it added.

It also urged members of the public to express their love for the country via social media by sharing photos related to national day activities with the #KeluargaMalaysiaTeguhBersama #TeguhBersama #KeluargaMalaysia #KKOMM #HKHK2022 #Merdeka360 hashtags.

According to the statement, Sarawak JaPen will host contests such as Klik@Merdeka, ‘Bintang Patriotik Smule’, ‘Bintang Patriotik Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia’, ‘Bintang Patriotik RIUH’ singing competitions, MYDOODLE@Merdeka colouring and drawing contest, among others, throughout the national month.

"Many exciting prizes await participants and for more information, Malaysians can visit the Merdeka 360 portal including the Sarawak Information Department official Facebook page," it added.
