MELAKA, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The third edition of “Kembara Riuh Keluarga Malaysia,” which brings together the creative industry’s entrepreneurs and local arts activists, starts today at Dataran Pahlawan here.
The three-day programme is scheduled to be opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Aliat 8.30 pm, with Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa also scheduled to be present.
The carnival-like programme, known as 'Riuh Nau!', aims to promote the creative industry by highlighting works of local artists in an effort to restore the country's creative industry following the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is organised by MyCreative, an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM) , thus reflecting the government's concern and commitment, through the implementation of various initiatives, to revitalise the sector.
There are pop-up stalls, food and drink vendors, art exhibitions, creative activities and exhibitions by agencies under K-KOMM.
There are also pottery and tile making workshops, leather card holder making workshops, Peranakan beaded shoe demonstrations, all-purpose wood workshops and workshops and top-spinning demonstration.
An art exhibition by Melaka In Fact, which features an outdoor theme showcases Melaka's history as a trading city, as well as community mural art.
The programme also includes screening of the film “Rozanna Cinta '87” at the Cheng Ho Museum on Jonker Street, as well as performances by artistes like Amy Search, Ruffedge, Merakki, Monoloque and 1 Drum.
The Kembara Riuh Keluarga Malaysia is expected to create at least 7,000 job opportunities at 14 locations nationwide and support over 5,000 local businesses.
The programme is also in line with the government’s efforts to raise the creative industry’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 20%, estimated at RM31billion by 2025.
