MELAKA, July 27 (Bernama) -- About 30,000 visitors are targeted to enliven the Kembara Riuh Keluarga Malaysia event at Dataran Pahlawan from Aug 5 to 7 in conjunction with the Merdeka Month celebration.
MyCreative Ventures (MyCreative) chief executive officer, Junady Nawawi said the Melaka edition with the tagline, ‘Riuh Nau!’ would be promoting and highlighting the creative industry works by local artists/artistes.
“The choice of Melaka as the Riuh Nau! venue is due to the state’s strategic location and being among the country’s major tourist destinations, besides being rich in history and culture.
“Melaka is known for its unique arts and culture as well as its creative industry operators which are the main tourism draw and an economic strength for the state,” he said at a press conference, here, today.
Junady said the programme organised by MyCreative, an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM), would also portray the government’s concern and commitment to the country’s creative industry’s recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic through the implementation of various initiatives to reactivate the sector.
He said the Kembara Riuh Keluarga Malaysia programme which would gather the creative industry’s entrepreneurs and local arts activists, were expected to create at least 7,000 job opportunities at 14 locations across the country and supporting over 5,000 local businesses.
“The organising of this programme is also in line with the government’s efforts to raise the creative industry’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 20 per cent and estimated at RM31 billion by 2025.
“Therefore, all parties need to maximise their creativity and the industry’s potential of producing more creative works, boosting the development and promotion of products, increasing income and providing job opportunities,” he added.
Junady also said that in conjunction with Riuh Nau! here, there would be various interesting cultural events such as Dondang Sayang, Baba Nyonya wedding ceremony, traditional dances of the various communities, sales stalls, arts activities and more, as well as special performances by artistes such as Monoloque and AstroLoka.
